About Us

Dr. Carolyn Loughlin is an exceptional pediatric and adolescent dentist whose goal is to make your child’s visits the best possible dental experience. As a pediatric specialist, she consistently provides high quality and individualized care in a nurturing and respectful environment. As a mother of three children, Dr. Loughlin understands the uniqueness of every child and how to develop their trust and confidence while caring for their oral health. By providing each patient with her undivided attention and welcoming parental involvement, your child will be assured of a comfortable and positive experience. She is also trained and experienced in caring for children and adults with special health care needs and offers treatment at Nemours Dupont Surgery Center for those individuals who require this avenue of care.

Dr. Loughlin is a graduate of UCLA, a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry, graduating 4th in her class, and received her pediatric training at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. She is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD). She is an active staff member at Nemours Dupont Surgery Center in Bryn Mawr and an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD). Outside of the office, Dr. Loughlin enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Carl Horchos (general dentist of Chestnut Dental Associates in Downingtown, PA) and her 3 growing children. She also appreciates the outdoors and traveling in her spare time.

Cathy brings almost 40 years of dental assisting experience to the Healthy Young Smiles team, which includes both general and pediatric dental care. She entered the pediatric dental field with Healthy Young Smiles in 2014. She assists Dr. Loughlin both in the office and with surgery center procedures. When she is out of the office, she likes to spend time with her girls and family as well as take opportunities to travel.

Mary is an enthusiastic and experienced member of our crew with 40 years of dental assisting “& counting”. She has worked in specialties ranging from orthodontics to periodontics, but pediatrics at Healthy Young Smiles has been her favorite area of dentistry. She retains a bachelor’s in psychology from West Chester University and is mother of five as well as a grandmother of seven. She loves movies and stays active with volleyball as well as softball, however her favorite activity is being with her family.

Tami entered the Healthy Young Smiles team in 2017 and has practiced as a devoted dental hygienist verging on 35 years. She first earned her degree as a registered dental hygienist at Northampton Community College and has since gained experience in both general practice and pediatric dentistry. In her spare time, she finds enjoyment in traveling with her husband and spending time with her two adult daughters.

Kirby has been with Healthy Young Smiles since its start in 2013 as a diligent dental hygienist as well as a full-time mother of four under four: Jack, Scarlett, Vivienne, and Peter. She fell in love with pediatric dentistry after graduating as a registered dental hygienist from Montgomery County Community College in 2011. Her favorite age group is toddlers because she delights in seeing their excitement when they visit the office and get to meet the dentist. She is happily married to her husband, Joey, and in their free-time they find joy in watching their children grow as individuals each and every day.

Melanie joined Healthy Young Smiles as Office Manager in 2015. She has had over 30 years of experience in pediatric dentistry and loves the field to this day. Presently, she resides in Downingtown, PA and enjoys spending her free time with her daughter, Mackenzie, a nursing student at Immaculata University and her dog, Kudos. Melanie is also an active member of her community, as she has served as a volunteer at St. Anthony’s Women’s Auxiliary for over 10 years.

Kate is the one of first to greet you when you come to our office. As an administrative receptionist, she has served the dental profession with her dedicated and friendly demeanor since the age of 16. She has been part of the Healthy Young Smiles crew since the beginning in 2013. She currently lives in Malvern, PA with her daughter and their pet hamster, Turkey. She especially loves spending her time outside of the office cooking, crafting, and making memories with her beloved family & friends.

Cecilia, Dr. Loughlin’s eldest child, became a part of the Healthy Young Smiles team when she earned her Dental Health & Radiology Certification in 2014. Since then, she has worked as a dental auxiliary personnel with the office, while also pursuing a career in dentistry, as she is currently enrolled at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Cecilia also obtained the rank of black belt 1st Dan in Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan in 2008 and a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from the University of Scranton in 2019.
